Capturing Stunning Aerial Views
A local perspective, built from being here.
Northern Vista Droneworks grew from a simple idea: the places around us deserve to be seen with care.
I’m Jared Horton, based in Campton, New Hampshire. My work takes me throughout the White Mountains, Lakes Region and surrounding communities, documenting landscapes, businesses, construction, community events and the history that connects them.
The drone is one of my tools, but it isn’t the point.
Sometimes the work is a film that helps people feel what makes a town, business or landscape distinctive. Sometimes it is a detailed aerial map that helps someone understand a property in a completely different way. Often, the most interesting projects live somewhere between the two.

Tell the story. Understand the place.
Northern Vista has gradually developed around those two ideas.
I’m interested in the character of New Hampshire — the old roads, working landscapes, small businesses, historic places, changing seasons and communities that still have a strong sense of themselves.
That means I approach projects less like a production company arriving to capture content and more like someone trying to understand what is already there.
Technology gives us extraordinary ways to see a place.
The responsibility is knowing what is worth looking at.

Local first.
I believe sophisticated aerial imaging, mapping and visual storytelling shouldn’t require bringing in a large company from somewhere else.
Northern Vista is deliberately local and personal. I work directly with the people involved, adapt the project to what is actually needed, and try to leave clients with something useful rather than simply another folder of images.
Some projects become films.
Some become maps.
Some become historical records.
And some simply become a new way of seeing a familiar place.
From the field
Many of the projects begin with a place, a question, or something I notice while working around New Hampshire. I write about some of those projects, ideas and places in the Northern Vista blog.
